The tiny house movement has made its way to Australia. Sydney Community College has partnered with The Bower Marrickville to offer the only comprehensive tiny house building course in the country.
This intensive course is hands-on and practical running over 6 consecutive days where you and a team will build a tiny house on wheels out of recycled materials. Once complete, the tiny house will be available for purchase at The Bower’s annual fundraising auction.
If you are looking to live off the grid, escape the pressures of modern home ownership or simply looking for an exciting personal project then this course is for you.
What is a tiny house? A tiny house is a living space designed to be as compact as possible while remaining liveable and practical. The challenge is to maximise utility through a clever use of interior space, minimising scale and environmental impact.

To most of us, living without money sounds like an impossible dream, but Jo Nemeth hasn’t spent a cent in years. With a desire to live more simply, sustainably, and in line with her values, Jo stepped off the treadmill of rent, bills, and a stressful job to change key aspects of her life.
Fred Schultz designed and built his off-grid tiny house on wheels for his family before tiny houses on wheels were a thing. But for Fred, off-grid wasn’t enough. The house had to be run on reusable sources of fuel as well. So he designed and built a solar passive tiny house.
Alicia and her partner have been living tiny in their Tiny House for nearly 4 years. Now they have welcomed a tiny addition to the family home with the arrival of their first child.
Join Jo, Fred and Alicia to hear their journey to a Tiny House life and beyond, living a whole lot more with a whole lot less.
